smokey robinson has vehemently denied allegations of sexual assault made by four former housekeepers, dismissing the claims as “bulls-.” The iconic singer is facing a $50 million lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on May 6 by the women, who are identified as Jane Doe 1, 2, 3 and 4.
The 27-page lawsuit alleges multiple incidents dating back to 2006, accusing Robinson of pressuring the women into sexual acts. While initially responding through his attorney, Robinson addressed the allegations directly with TMZ while at LAX on Friday, September 5. He stated, “It’s happening to everybody… If it was gonna happen to me, it happened at a great time, because it’s happening to everybody, and it’s bulls-.” He added, “I’m good,” and described his life as “absolutely wonderful.” when asked if he was concerned about the accusations, he responded, “No.Everything’s going good for me.”
Robinson has filed a $500 million countersuit against the claimants, characterizing the allegations as a “fabrication.” The lawsuit comes as the 70-year-old Motown legend continues a career spanning seven decades. Robinson founded the Miracles in the 1950s, later achieving success as a solo artist and record executive at Motown Records, and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.
