Erling Haaland Sustains Lip Injury During Team Bus Incident
OSLO, Norway – Manchester City striker Erling Haaland required three stitches to his lip after an accidental collision with the door of the Norwegian national team bus, the player confirmed via social media. The incident occurred as Haaland exited the bus at the team hotel in Oslo following a friendly match against Finland.
The injury occurred during preparations for Norway’s World Cup qualification game against Moldova. Witnesses reported Haaland exclaimed in response to the impact. Team doctor Ola Sand and security manager Geir Elefsen provided immediate medical attention, transporting Haaland to the hotel for treatment.
Haaland scored the sole goal in Norway’s 1-0 victory over Finland. He subsequently shared a selfie online displaying the stitched wound, accompanied by the message: “Just hit the bus door. 3 stitches.”
Responding to fan comments, Haaland jokingly dismissed suggestions he was intentionally struck in the face, and playfully acknowledged a subsequent joke referencing teammate Martin Ødegaard.
Norway currently leads Group I in World Cup qualification with four wins from four games, ahead of Israel, Italy, Estonia, and Moldova. The team includes other Premier League players such as Oscar Bobb, Sander Berge, and Kristoffer Ajer. Haaland has indicated he hopes to contribute to further victories despite the injury.
