North Dakota State Dominates Tennessee State 59-3

NASHVILLE,Tenn. – North ​Dakota⁢ state demonstrated its⁢ championship form ⁢Saturday,‍ overpowering Tennessee State​ 59-3 ‍in ⁢a dominant performance at Nissan Stadium. Bison running back Barry kpeenu⁤ spearheaded the attack with three touchdowns as the defending FCS champions asserted their dominance.

The victory underscores North Dakota State‘s continued reign as a force in the FCS,signaling their intent to contend for another ⁤national title.The Bison, ranked No. 1⁣ in the FCS, showcased a potent offense​ and stifling defense, leaving little room for the Tigers to respond. This early-season win provides a strong foundation as North Dakota State ⁢navigates⁤ its schedule and aims to build momentum toward ⁣a playoff ⁢run.

Kpeenu proved instrumental in establishing North Dakota State’s early‌ led, finding⁢ the end zone on‌ runs of 10, 4, and 6 ⁢yards. He ‌finished the game with 57 rushing yards on 10 carries. The Bison’s offensive efficiency ‌was further bolstered by Cole Payton, who completed 13 of 16 passes for 166 yards, including a 3-yard touchdown connection with RaJa Nelson.‍

Nathan Hayes⁤ also contributed ​with a 68-yard touchdown pass to ⁤Mekhi Collins,while DJ ⁢Scott ‌added a rushing touchdown. On the defensive side,Donovan Woolen intercepted a pass and returned it 34 yards for ⁣a touchdown,highlighting the Bison’s ability to ⁤score in all phases of the game.

Tennessee State struggled to generate offense,⁣ managing only 131 ‍total yards and four⁤ frist downs. Three Tigers quarterbacks ‍combined for 8 of 18 passing for 61 yards⁤ and one interception. Kendric Rhymes led⁣ the Tigers in rushing with 43 yards on 12 carries.

The Tigers avoided a complete shutout with a ‍45-yard ⁢field goal ‌by Freddy Perez with⁢ four minutes remaining. North Dakota State has now outscored its first two opponents by a combined score‍ of 97-3.
