Alcalá la Real Hosts 34th Edition of Olive Fair, Showcasing Sector Innovation & Rural Empowerment
Alcalá la Real, Spain – The 34th edition of Alcalá la Real’s annual olive fair is underway, bringing together approximately 70 exhibitors and a robust program of technical sessions focused on the future of olive cultivation and rural development. The event, organized by the Alcalá la Real City Council, commenced with presentations addressing critical challenges and opportunities facing olive growers.
this year’s fair arrives at a pivotal moment for the olive oil industry, as producers navigate evolving agricultural policies, sustainability concerns, and the increasing importance of innovation. The event aims to equip attendees with the knowledge and resources needed to thrive in a competitive market, while also celebrating the vital role of women and biomass utilization in the rural economy.The initial programming included “SOS olivicultor,” presented by the technical director of API Alcalá-Sierra de Frailes, and a session on PAC aid applications led by technical personnel from Asaja Jaén.Saturday’s agenda features presentations from experts at the Olivar Foundation, the DOP “Churdy Prike” (represented by General Secretariat and Panel Chief Francisca García), the IGP “Guén Oil” (with General Secretary Miguel Soto), and Carlos Bardón, a technician from the Alcalá La Real City Council’s agriculture and environment department. Purification Pérez, a professor at IES Antonio Mendoza, will also contribute, focusing on dual vocational training in olive oils and wines.
The fair will conclude on Sunday with presentations centered on “Women’s prominence in the rural world: a sure success” and “Olivar biomass as a source of income,” highlighting emerging strategies for economic diversification and gender equality within the agricultural sector.
