Fantasy Football: Boone’s “Sit” List Highlights Week 1 Upsets
Fantasy football players should adjust their Week 1 lineups, according to analyst Justin Boone, who flagged several prominent players for potential benching in a recent article. Boone advises caution with Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff, citing a tough matchup. He also recommends sitting Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields against the Pittsburgh steelers.
On the running back side, Boone suggests avoiding Bears running back D’Andre swift in his matchup against the Minnesota Vikings, noting a potentially crowded backfield and challenging divisional opponents. The Vikings and Lions were both in the bottom five in rushing yards and fantasy points allowed to running backs in 2023.
Tennessee Titans wide receiver Calvin Ridley is another player Boone suggests sitting, despite the arrival of quarterback Cam Ward. He anticipates Denver Broncos cornerback Pat Surtain II limiting Ridley’s production in their Week 1 contest. Boone, though, identifies Ridley as a potential “buy-low” option for Week 2.
Boone flags Denver Broncos tight end Evan Engram as a risky start, citing uncertainty surrounding his role in Sean Payton’s offense and a difficult matchup against a Titans defense that limited tight end production in 2023. Payton referred to engram as a potential “Joker” in his scheme. Boone also recommends sitting Las Vegas Raiders tight end Colston Loveland against the Vikings.
