Minister Prioritizes Holistic Development for Transmigration Success

jakarta,Indonesia – Transmigration Minister Muhammad Iftitah‌ Sulaiman Suryanagara has⁤ affirmed the government’s commitment to transforming the transmigration program into a comprehensive ‍initiative ⁢focused on building sustainable,integrated welfare ecosystems for participating communities. Speaking during a working meeting with Commission​ V of the Indonesian ‍House of Representatives⁣ (DPR RI) on September 4th, ⁤Minister Suryanagara emphasized that ⁤the program’s goal extends beyond ‌relocation to achieving genuine prosperity for ⁤transmigrants.

Addressing concerns about post-relocation welfare, the Minister outlined a strategy that moves beyond⁣ simply providing land and housing. The focus is​ now on establishing robust ecosystems encompassing employment opportunities,stable income streams,access to education,healthcare,and essential public facilities. This ⁣includes the⁤ provision of schools, places of worship, health centers, community⁢ halls, and markets within transmigration areas.

The government is‍ actively pursuing opportunities for‌ industrialization and downstreaming to bolster economic growth​ and⁣ provide sustainable livelihoods for transmigrants. ⁤Minister Suryanagara highlighted a shift in strategy, moving away from large-scale relocation towards fostering voluntary migration and establishing new economic growth centers.Looking ahead to 2025, the transmigration program will prioritize placing 94% of participants locally, with only 6% consisting of new settlers. All placements will be ⁣based on ⁢official⁢ requests from regional governments, facilitated through inter-regional cooperation as mandated ⁢by transmigration law.

The Minister expressed hope that ‍this holistic approach will transform transmigration areas into economic magnets, ‍driving efficient development while minimizing the burden on the state budget. The ultimate aim ‌is to ensure transmigrants not only have ⁣jobs and income, ‌but also a cozy and supportive surroundings in which to thrive.
