Pixel 10 Teardown Reveals Significantly Easier Battery Replacement
iFixit‘s initial teardown of the Google Pixel 10 reveals a redesigned internal structure prioritizing repairability, most notably a new battery removal system. While still requiring a firm pull – described as “not effortless” – the battery is “glued down tightly” but demonstrably easier to access than in previous Pixel models, according to iFixit. This shift comes as Google continues to expand its self-repair program, offering official parts, tools, and now, designs that facilitate user and autonomous repair.
The increased focus on repairability addresses growing consumer demand for longer-lasting devices and reduces electronic waste. Google’s move aligns with right-to-repair legislation gaining traction globally and positions the pixel 10 as a leader in repair-friendly smartphone design. iFixit provisionally awards the Pixel 10 a repairability score of 6 out of 10.
During the teardown, iFixit also identified the Pixel 10’s Tensor G5 processor and the Pixelsnap ring. Google has proactively published comprehensive repair manuals for the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 pro XL, available through Google’s support documentation. Thes manuals, along with the improved internal design, empower users to tackle repairs themselves, extending the lifespan of their devices and reducing reliance on professional services.
