NASA Launches TechRise Student Challenge 5, Offering Students a Chance to Fly Experiments into Near Space
WASHINGTON D.C. – NASA is calling on students in grades 6-12 to ignite their passion for STEM with the launch of the TechRise Student Challenge 5. This exciting competition provides a unique, hands-on opportunity for young innovators to develop and potentially fly a science or technology experiment on a NASA-sponsored platform. The challenge invites students attending U.S. public, private, or charter schools – including those in U.S. territories - to collaborate with their classmates and design an experiment suitable for one of two flight vehicles: a suborbital spaceship offering approximately three minutes of microgravity,or a high-altitude balloon providing four to eight hours of flight time at altitudes between 70,000 and 95,000 feet. the high-altitude balloon flight will expose experiments to Earth’s atmosphere,high-altitude radiation, and offer stunning views of the planet.
“TechRise is about empowering the next generation of scientists and engineers,” a NASA spokesperson stated. “This challenge provides invaluable experience in critical STEM fields that will be essential for America’s future technical workforce.”
Sixty winning teams will each receive an award of $1,500 to support their project.
