Ho Chi Minh City Hospital Creates Relaxation Room to Boost Cancer Patient Morale
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam – Military Hospital 175 has inaugurated a new relaxation room designed to provide emotional and mental support for cancer patients, their families, and medical staff. The initiative aims to bolster patients’ spirits through access to books, music, games, and charitable resources, recognizing the critical role of psychological well-being in overcoming illness.
For individuals battling cancer,maintaining mental strength is as vital as medical treatment. Hospital officials say the new space offers a “small corner of love” intended to foster peace, joy, and renewed motivation during challenging times.The project underscores a growing understanding of holistic cancer care, acknowledging the profound impact of emotional and psychological support on treatment outcomes and quality of life.
Colonel,Professor and Doctor Nguyen Van ba,deputy director of Military Hospital 175,emphasized the importance of inner resilience,stating,”A relaxing space,a good book,a relaxing musical piece or simply a shared smile…they will give the patient more strength,trust and optimism during the treatment process.”
The relaxation room is equipped with shelves of books, computers, a guitar, art supplies, chess boards, plants, and donated items like wigs and hats available free of charge to patients. The hospital’s Department of Social work spearheaded the project, hoping to create a supportive environment for all those navigating the difficulties of cancer treatment.
