EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana (USI) Men’s and Women’s Tennis has added Jacob Weiss as assistant coach, the department announced today. Weiss brings five years of collegiate coaching experience and a strong playing background to the Screaming Eagles program.
Head Coach Chris Crawford expressed his enthusiasm for the hire,stating,”I’m extremely excited about the hiring of Jacob. He has numerous years of coaching and teaching experience in tennis. He has a lot of energy and a great work ethic. I look forward to working with him and having him work with our student-athletes here at USI.” Weiss’s arrival is expected to bolster the program’s advancement as it continues to compete within the Ohio valley Conference.
Weiss most recently served as the assistant men’s and women’s tennis coach at Trine University (Angola, Indiana) from 2021-2025. During his tenure, the Trine men’s team achieved a 45-32 overall record and secured the program’s first conference regular-season title in 2024. The women’s team also saw success under Weiss’s guidance, posting a 43-31 record.
Throughout his time at Trine, Weiss helped develop nine All-MIAA first and second-team selections on the men’s side, and four on the women’s team. prior to Trine, Weiss was an assistant coach at richmond High School (Richmond, Indiana) during the 2021 spring season.
A 2020 graduate of Trine University, Weiss was a standout player for the Thunder’s men’s tennis team. He accumulated 32 doubles wins, 27 singles wins, and maintained a .548 winning percentage over his four-year collegiate career.
