New Philips Hue Doorbell, ‘Essential’ line, and MotionAware Tech Spotted in amazon Leak
Berlin & Indianapolis – Ahead of this week’s IFA and CEDIA trade shows, details of several unreleased Philips Hue products surfaced unexpectedly on Amazon, revealing a new doorbell, an affordable “essential” lighting line, and a possibly groundbreaking motion detection technology called MotionAware. The listings were first noted by tech news site CNET.
The leak provides a first look at Philips Hue’s upcoming product roadmap, signaling a push toward greater accessibility and expanded functionality within the smart home ecosystem. For consumers invested in the Hue platform-or considering it-these additions promise enhanced security, broader lighting options, and potentially more seamless automation. Philips Lighting/Signify has not yet commented on the listings.
Among the most notable discoveries is a new Philips Hue Doorbell featuring two-way audio and package detection. This addition would directly compete with offerings from Ring, Nest, and other smart doorbell manufacturers, offering Hue users a fully integrated security solution within their existing smart lighting setup.
The listings also point to a new, more budget-amiable line of Philips Hue lighting called ”Essential.” Currently, many Hue products require a Hue Bridge to connect to wi-Fi; the ”Essential” line may offer bulbs and lights that bypass this requirement, aligning Philips Hue with other smart lighting brands that offer bridge-free options.
Perhaps the most intriguing reveal is MotionAware, a new technology leveraging Philips Hue’s existing ZigBee support within smart bulbs. This appears to enable motion detection directly within the bulbs themselves, potentially automating lighting changes and triggering security alerts without the need for separate motion sensors.
IFA and CEDIA are expected to bring official announcements regarding these and other smart home innovations. CNET will continue to cover the latest developments and provide updates as they become available.
