Man Arrested After High-Speed Pursuit in Cass and Richland Counties

West​ Fargo man Arrested Following High-Speed pursuit Across Cass and Richland ‍Counties

FARGO,ND – A 42-year-old West​ Fargo man,Christopher Pankowski,was taken into custody early Tuesday morning after ⁢a lengthy and dangerous ‍pursuit that spanned both‍ Cass and ‍Richland counties. The chase​ involved multiple‌ law enforcement agencies and ultimately ⁢ended with Pankowski’s arrest in Fargo.

The initial pursuit began on Interstate 29 when a Cass County Deputy observed ⁢Pankowski’s vehicle traveling ​at a ‍speed of 118 miles​ per hour. As ⁣the chase continued into Richland County,the ​North Dakota State Patrol assumed ‌primary duty.

Richland County Deputies strategically deployed spike strips near the​ Wahpeton exit in an‍ attempt to disable the vehicle. However, Pankowski successfully ⁤evaded the spike strips by‍ exiting the interstate prior to reaching‌ the designated location. Concern for public safety led authorities to terminate the active pursuit as Pankowski exited onto 52nd⁤ Avenue South in Fargo.

Later in ⁢the morning, Fargo Police officers located the vehicle on University Drive South. A subsequent surveillance operation led officers to an apartment ⁣complex where Pankowski attempted to flee on foot. He ​was apprehended shortly after.

Pankowski now faces multiple charges related to the pursuit,including driving under the influence ‍(DUI),refusal to submit to a DUI ⁣test,and​ reckless‌ endangerment. He was also taken into custody on an outstanding warrant issued by Cass County.
