C.J. Stroud-WR Nico Collins Connection: Texans’ Key to Success

by David Harrison – Chief Editor

HOUSTON – Houston⁤ Texans wide receiver Nico ‌Collins and quarterback C.J. Stroud are ⁣confident their established⁢ connection will be a⁢ key factor in ⁤navigating the⁣ team’s notable offensive ⁣changes this season, believing their chemistry has the potential to become a major threat in the NFL.

The Texans underwent ⁤ample offseason adjustments, including revamping the wide receiver corps, overhauling the offensive line, a change in coordinators, and a reshuffling of the running back room following ⁢Joe Mixon’s foot ⁤injury that landed him ‌on the Reserve/NFI list, sidelining him for at least the first four games. ⁢Amidst this transition, the Stroud-collins partnership remains a constant, ⁤and both players feel poised to capitalize. Collins,⁢ who led Houston wiht 68 catches for 1,006 yards and seven touchdowns last year despite missing five games with a hamstring ‍injury, finished fourth in the NFL⁢ with 83.8 receiving yards per game. He also got off to a strong start in 2023, leading the league with 113.4 receiving⁢ yards per game through the ⁢first five weeks.

“It’s like taking candy from a baby,” Collins told reporters. “it’s bread and butter. It’s only right for us to continue to grow,⁢ continue ‌to find the timing and continue to work on our craft.”

Stroud and ⁤Collins recognize the ⁢need to avoid complacency. “You can’t get agreeable,” Collins added. “I feel like‌ that’s one thing you can’t do in this league. For us, me and him, [we need to] continue to grow as⁢ a unit, as an offense, and continue to click. Everybody, that’s our ‍goal.”

The Texans will need this dynamic duo⁤ to quickly establish their rhythm when they face the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. A strong start for Stroud and Collins could set the tone for a successful season amidst the team’s broader⁣ offensive ‌overhaul.
