Repole Stable Secures Leading Owner Title at Saratoga Race Course
SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – Repole Stable clinched the leading owner title at the recently concluded Saratoga Race Course meet, marking their fourth win at the prestigious venue and first since 2012. The stable amassed 14 victories throughout the meet, surpassing Klaravich Stables (11 wins) and Flying P Stable (9 wins).
This victory marks Repole Stable’s first owners’ title at a New York Racing Association (NYRA) meeting since a tie with michael Dubb at the 2021 Aqueduct winter meet. Prior to that, Repole Stable dominated Saratoga from 2010-2012 and led all New York owners in 2009.
Key wins for Repole stable included a sweep of 2-year-old turf stakes routes during closing week – the Grade 3 With Anticipation and Listed P.G. Johnson. Standout performers also included debut-winner Teleport, co-owned with Newtown Anner Stud Farm, and New York-bred Grazie, who graduated on July 31 and later finished third in the state-bred Seeking the Ante on August 22.
“Winning at Saratoga is always special, but winning 14 races and having Mike win leading owner for the fourth time at such a prestigious meet is truly incredible,” said Danielle Bricker, assistant racing manager for repole Stable. “None of this happens without a true team effort from Repole Stable; trainers, jockeys, backstretch workers, and all of the farms. Repole Stable finished the meet with a record of 61 starts, 14 wins, 11 places, and 8 shows, earning $1,123,270 in total purse money.
Simultaneously occurring, jockey Jose Ortiz, Jr. completed the meet with a record of 286-59-56-44 and earnings of $5,341,609, achieving a 20.63 percent win rate and a 55.59 percent in-the-money rate. His agent, Rushing, noted Ortiz’s Grade 1 victories in the Resorts World Casino Ballerina, Alabama presented by Keeneland Sales, and Test presented by Ticketmaster. “He’s always been extremely talented,” Rushing said. “He’s one of the top riders in the nation and he’s had a great year. Everything has just come together for him.”
Ortiz, Jr. expressed his gratitude for the Saratoga experience, stating, “I’m happy for every horse I rode out there. It’s exciting when you win a maiden, you never know. It’s an exciting place, and I think it’s best place to ride horses and the people show so much love every single day. They support the sport so much, so I can’t be happier to be here.”
