Snoop Dogg‘s Representative Denies Authenticity of Instagram Comment Addressing LGBTQ+ Backlash
Los Angeles, CA – A recent Instagram comment purportedly from Snoop Dogg responding to criticism over his remarks about LGBTQ+ portrayal in children’s films has been deemed “fake” by the rapper’s representative. The comment appeared on Hollywood Unlocked’s page and addressed the controversy sparked by Snoop’s comments on the It’s giving podcast.
The alleged comment read: “I was just caught off guard and had no answer for my grandsons. All my gay friends know what’s up, they been calling me with love. My bad for not knowing the answers for a 6-year-old. Teach me how to learn. I’m not perfect.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, Snoop’s team believes someone gained unauthorized access to his account and posted the statement. As of Monday, September 1st, the comment remained live.
The controversy originated with Snoop dogg’s recounting on the It’s Giving podcast of taking his grandson to see Pixar’s Lightyear in 2022. He described being surprised by a scene featuring a character with two mothers and admitted he was unprepared to answer his grandson’s questions about how two women could have a baby. “I didn’t come in for this shit. I just came to watch the goddamn movie,” Snoop said, adding, “It fucked me up. I’m like, scared to go to the movies.”
His representative has not identified who authored the fabricated comment.
