Lavender and Ginger Show Promise as Natural Remedies, Studies Indicate
Buenos Aires – Emerging research supports the use of lavender and ginger as effective, natural treatments for headaches, nausea, and digestive discomfort, offering alternatives to conventional medicine.
lavender is highlighted as a solution for headaches, with both its infusion and essential oil demonstrating soothing effects. A study published in the scientific journal European Neurology found that of 129 participants experiencing headaches, 92 responded positively – either fully or partially – to lavender treatment. The study concluded that inhaling lavender essential oil “can be an effective and safe treatment for the acute management of headaches.” Aromatherapy also recommends lavender essential oil as a remedy for stress, anxiety, and migraines.
Beyond headaches, ginger shows significant benefits for nausea and digestive issues. Evidence suggests that consuming 250 or 500 milligrams of ginger can improve nauseous states and digestive processes linked to postprandial heaviness. Its compounds can also reduce nausea experienced after chemotherapy or surgery.
A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study published in Obstetrics and Gynecology followed two groups of pregnant women for five months. The group receiving ginger experienced a significant decrease in nausea and vomiting, while the placebo group showed only slight betterment. Researchers concluded that ginger is effective for relieving occasional nausea and vomiting during pregnancy and reported no adverse effects on pregnancy outcomes.
Experts emphasize the importance of understanding the root cause of discomfort, noting that “the body is a messenger, let’s ask ourselves, ‘What details does this discomfort come to me?'”
