Israeli Singer David D’Or Attacked with Red Paint During warsaw Performance
Warsaw, Poland – Israeli singer David D’Or was sprayed with red paint by a pro-Palestinian activist Sunday evening during a concert in Warsaw, Poland. The incident occurred mid-performance, as D’Or was singing the “Avinu Malkeinu” prayer, a traditional Jewish plea for a good year and world peace.
“In the middle of the prayer, while I was praying for a good year and peace in the world, I closed my eyes, when suddenly I felt a cold spray on my face,” D’Or recounted. “I opened my eyes to see strong red paint, blood-like, on my clothes, on my face, and on the stage and musicians.”
D’Or stated the paint resembled blood and evoked memories of the October 7th attacks. The audience reacted with ”murmurs of terror and crying,” according to the singer, who than urged them to join him in prayer for the people of Israel. Despite the shock, D’Or completed the performance, noting his eyes were “tearing from pain and great sadness.” He said a violinist feared acid had been thrown.
In a video statement released Monday, D’Or expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support.”We went through a really traumatic experience, but we didn’t break and won’t break,” he said. “I will continue to come to every place that invites me. I am proud to be Israeli, I am proud to be Jewish, and I am proud to try to connect different religions, people, and opinions through this marvelous tool called music. We will not break and they will not break us.”
The incident is the latest in a series of antisemitic events reported across Europe since the start of the Gaza War.
