US Suspends Visa Approvals for Palestinian Passport Holders Ahead of UN General Assembly

New York – Teh Trump governance has suspended approval of all visas for individuals holding Palestinian passports, according to a report by The New York Times. The move, impacting travel to the United States, comes ahead of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly scheduled to take place in New York in September.

The Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee regarding Gaza expressed deep regret over the decision by the US State Department to deny entry visas to the Palestinian delegation intended to participate in the UN General Assembly proceedings.

The committee has formally requested the American administration to reverse its decision, emphasizing the importance of upholding obligations outlined in the United Nations headquarters agreement. They urged a return to dialogue adn diplomacy, and highlighted the Palestinian National Authority’s commitment to a peaceful resolution.

Furthermore, the committee stressed the need to support the Palestinian National Authority and President mahmoud Abbas as they pursue governmental reforms and work to counter violence, extremism, and terrorism amidst escalating tensions impacting the palestinian people. The committee warned that weakening the Palestinian authority would jeopardize peace efforts and potentially exacerbate conflict.
