Effingham,IL – HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital is now providing AmpliFi™ therapy, a groundbreaking treatment designed to improve breathing, sleep, and speech for patients facing a range of respiratory and swallowing challenges. The new service, launched this month, offers a non-invasive approach to strengthening weakened muscles and restoring vital functions.
The therapy utilizes neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) applied to the tongue and throat muscles, guided by real-time biofeedback. This innovative technique aims to address difficulties stemming from stroke, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson’s disease, and other neurological conditions impacting a patient’s ability to safely and effectively breathe, swallow, and communicate. HSHS St.Anthony’s is part of Hospital sisters Health System (HSHS), a nonprofit Catholic health care ministry founded in 1875, serving the effingham community for 150 years.”We are committed to providing our patients with the most advanced and effective therapies available,” said a hospital spokesperson. “AmpliFi™ therapy represents a notable step forward in our ability to help individuals regain essential life skills and improve their overall quality of life.”
HSHS St. Anthony’s Rehabilitation and Wellness department offers a comprehensive suite of services, and the addition of AmpliFi™ therapy expands their capabilities to address a wider spectrum of patient needs. A physician’s order is required to begin AmpliFi™ therapy, and staff at 217-347-1243 can assist patients in obtaining one.
