manhattan Women’s Volleyball Falls to Northern Arizona at Lobo Invitational
Albuquerque, NM – The Manhattan Jaspers women’s volleyball team (1-2) concluded their participation in the Lobo Invitational with a straight-set defeat against the northern Arizona lumberjacks (2-1) on Saturday. The Jaspers struggled to find their rhythm, falling to Northern Arizona with scores of 13-25, 8-25, and 18-25.
Key Moments:
The Jaspers showed early promise in the first set, with strong hitting from Hanna Kaczynska, whose third kill kept the score competitive at 9-11. Though, Northern Arizona responded with a dominant 9-1 run, ultimately taking the set 25-13.
The second set began brightly for Manhattan, as Sarah Emmons and Fiona VanDyke opened with kills to tie the score at four. Despite the initial spark, the Lumberjacks seized control, closing out the set with a commanding 21-4 run, including a 13-point unanswered streak.
Manhattan demonstrated renewed energy in the third set, launching a five-point run fueled by Sarah Emmons’ serving, including a crucial service ace. Despite a valiant effort to close the gap,Northern Arizona proved too strong,securing the final set 25-18.
