New $1099 Gaming PC Boasts next-Gen RTX 5070, challenging Current Market Leaders
August 17, 2024 – A new gaming PC from Ibuypower, the Slate Intel Core i5-14400F RTX 5070 model, is currently available for $1,099, sparking discussion about the value proposition of Nvidia‘s upcoming RTX 5070 graphics card. The system, highlighted during Intel gamer Days sales, features a 14th Generation Intel Core i5-14400F processor, 16GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 1TB M.2 SSD.Initial reactions, including those from IGN staff, have been largely positive.
The i5-14400F processor is a refresh of Intel’s Raptor Lake architecture, boasting a maximum turbocharged frequency of 4.7 GHz across its 10 cores. Cooling is provided by a 120mm air cooler. However, the centerpiece of this build is the RTX 5070, Nvidia’s next-generation GPU.
according to early assessments, the RTX 5070 appears to perform comparably to the RTX 4070 Super, a card that has recently become more readily available in the used market following its initial release. While not necessarily surpassing the 4070 Super in raw performance, the RTX 5070 introduces support for DLSS 4, Nvidia’s latest upscaling technology featuring multi-frame generation. This feature is expected to considerably boost performance in supported titles, including Wuchang: Fallen Feather, Doom: The Dark Ones, clair Gbfort, Clair Gbfort: Expedition 33, Borderlands 4, and Battlefield 6.
IGN Trade Manager Eric Song, responsible for identifying top tech deals, notes the potential of the RTX 5070. “The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 is intricate. It is indeed playing games in 1440 pixels at a high frame rate: in 1440 pixels. But the problem is, it doesn’t necessarily do this better than the RTX 4070 Super or any other graphics card,” stated Jacqueline Thomas in a recent commentary.
The arrival of the RTX 5070 and systems like the Ibuypower Slate signal a continued push for higher fidelity gaming experiences. The RTX 40 series, launched in late 2022, established a new baseline for performance, and the 50 series aims to build upon that foundation. The RTX 4070 Super, released in January 2024,offered a notable performance boost over the original RTX 4070,and the RTX 5070 is positioned to compete within that performance tier, potentially offering a compelling value proposition with the added benefits of DLSS 4.
