Paris, France – Prime Minister François Bayrou has initiated a review aimed at eliminating potential financial benefits enjoyed by political leaders stemming from “industrial” advantages. The declaration, made on bayrou’s official YouTube channel, comes in response to widespread public concern regarding potential conflicts of interest and misuse of public funds.
Bayrou tasked former socialist deputy René Dosière, known for his expertise in identifying public spending inefficiencies, with leading the investigation. “I take this question very seriously,” Bayrou stated, “as it means that there is a suspicion. The french, for many of them, came to think that politicians were putting their pockets full […] That it was a gabegie of public money.”
The Prime Minister’s decision follows a public call for suggestions, which yielded a significant number of responses urging scrutiny of perceived privileges held by politicians, parliamentarians, and government officials. The initiative seeks to address growing public distrust and reinforce transparency in government.
Dosière’s role will be to determine whether French parliamentarians or political leaders currently benefit from “industrial, excessive, unacceptable advantages.” Throughout his political career, Dosière has focused on uncovering instances of wasteful public expenditure.
