godspeed you! Black Emperor have removed their entire discography from Spotify, Tidal, Amazon Music, and Apple Music. This follows similar actions by King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Deerhoof, and Xiu Xiu, protesting Spotify CEO daniel Ek’s investment in a military technology company. King Gizzard wrote on Instagram that they removed their music to pressure these “Dr. Evil tech bros to do better.”
The band has not made an official statement regarding their decision.
