MONTREAL, QC – Atlanta United secured a 2-0 victory over CF Montréal at Saputo Stadium on Wednesday night, marking their first win in Montréal as July 26, 2022. Goals from Brooks lennon and Stian Gregersen propelled Atlanta to a decisive win in the MLS regular season matchup.
Atlanta’s attack boasts increased depth compared to their previous encounter with Montréal in February 2023.Emmanuel Latte Lath and Miguel almirón spearhead the offensive line. Latte lath previously scored twice in the 4-1 leagues Cup win against Montréal last February, while Almirón provided an assist in that same match. Though,both players have faced recent scoring challenges in MLS play.
New acquisitions Steven Alzate, a central midfielder transferred from Hull City, and Juan Berrocal are available and featured on the bench. Alzate, who holds both English and Colombian citizenship, was recently cleared to play after receiving his work visa. He is anticipated to make his debut appearance in the near future.
Cayman togashi earned a spot on the bench following a strong performance in Atlanta’s 4-1 Leagues Cup victory over Atlas FC on August 23rd. Jamal Thiaré was unavailable for selection due to a calf injury. Nyk Sessock and Luke Brennan, both Homegrown players, also feature among the substitutes, offering potential attacking options on the wings for head coach Ronny Deila.
Enea Mihaj made his first MLS Regular Season start for Atlanta United, playing as a center back. the Albanian defender previously started in the Leagues Cup loss against Pumas UNAM on August 21st and had seen limited action prior, totaling 24 minutes as a substitute in Atlanta’s 2-2 draw with seattle Sounders FC on July 15th.
