David Jordan” loading=”lazy” />Gibson City, Illinois – August 9, 2025 – A manhunt is underway in Ford County after a Gibson City police officer and a Ford County Sheriff’s deputy were wounded in a shooting incident Saturday. The suspect, identified as 45-year-old David Jordan, remains at large following a subsequent house fire at his residence.
The officers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana,Illinois,for treatment. Details regarding the initial circumstances of the shooting have not been released by authorities.
Shortly after the shooting,Jordan’s home,located on East 10th Street in Gibson City,was engulfed in flames and entirely destroyed. The cause of the fire is currently under inquiry by the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Witnesses report that Jordan fled the scene of both incidents unclothed. He was last seen in the vicinity of North sangamon Avenue.
Illinois State Police troopers, along with local law enforcement, conducted a search of the neighborhood, including an abandoned residence across from a home on North Sangamon Avenue.
“Three state troopers came around the house right across the street from me, guns drawn, and went into the house. That house is abandoned. There’s no one living in there now,” stated David Norbot, a resident of the area.
Authorities have issued a warning that Jordan should be considered armed and risky. He may be traveling on a red bicycle.Residents are urged to immediately contact 911 or the Gibson city Police Department at 217-784-8666 if they spot him.
