Context: The Blackwell Architecture

NVIDIA’s Blackwell architecture, announced at the 2024 GPU Technology Conference (GTC) in San Jose, California, represents a significant leap forward in GPU technology. Blackwell is designed to accelerate workloads like AI,high-performance computing, and gaming. Key improvements include a new Tensor Core design and enhanced Ray Tracing capabilities. The Blackwell GPUs are manufactured using a custom 4N process by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing company (TSMC).

Resizable BAR Technology

Resizable BAR (Base Address Register) is a PCI Express feature that allows the CPU to access the entire GPU frame buffer at once, rather than in smaller segments. This can lead to performance improvements, particularly in games that are optimized to take advantage of the technology. It requires a compatible motherboard, CPU, and GPU, and also enabling the feature in the BIOS.
