Hanna Plaß Discusses Mother-Daughter Conflicts, bachelor Parties, adn teh Multifaceted Nature of Her Career
Berlin, Germany – Actress Hanna Plaß, known for her roles in “The Glass Child” and “Nights before Weddings,” recently sat down to discuss the complexities of her cinematic portrayals and her multifaceted career. Plaß offered insights into the dynamics of family relationships, the symbolism of pre-wedding rituals, and the challenges of balancing diverse artistic passions. In her role in “The Glass child,” Plaß explored a mother-daughter conflict with co-star Katharina Böhm. When asked about the comparative challenges of interacting with film fathers versus film mothers, Plaß noted a societal tendency to frame thes relationships differently. “With father-daughter conflicts, as we live in a patriarchal structure, it is indeed always about power,” Plaß explained. “In the case of mothers, however, the focus is always on care. Power is a fight, nothing more and nothing less. In principle, care is much more emotional, it gets under the skin – especially since the fear of being alone also plays a role here.” She quickly added a caveat, stating, “I realy want to add that this structural division is not fair at all. I think that fathers can be incredibly caring. And mothers are outstanding managers.”
Plaß also touched upon the film “Nights Before Weddings,” which depicts two bachelor parties that disrupt the lives of two couples. Reflecting on the tradition of bachelor parties, she stated, “I understand the ritual. A bachelor party symbolically stands for the fact that one merges into the other from one phase of life.Though, I believe that relationships are no longer positioned today.” She elaborated on the underlying human desire for structure, suggesting that such rituals might be a “helpless attempt to find a structure – for a decision that has actually been made for a long time.” Plaß emphasized that the commitment to a shared future extends beyond such events, but acknowledged the “desire for structure is only human.”
The actress also shared her personal perspective on experiencing a wedding cancellation,as her character Saskia Kampmann did in “nights Before Weddings.” “In the best sense (laughs),” Plaß responded when asked about the feeling of being left behind. She described the moment as one where “everything collapses around her. Suddenly she is entirely alone. I’m terribly sorry for her. On the other hand, it is indeed a great liberation for them to start again.”
Beyond her acting career, Plaß is also a musician. when questioned about the potential curse and blessing of having multiple talents, plaß admitted, “Yes, it is tough to endure.” She shared her ongoing effort to create structures that allow her to pursue all her interests.”In the meantime, I have come to the realization that everything has its time,” she said. “It is indeed notable to enjoy the things that I can do at the moment – and not to succumb to the pressure to have to make something new.” Plaß also extended an invitation to a small concert on September 4th at Spreefeld/Berlin in the boathouse.
