Toruń, Poland – The city’s beloved indoor and leisure pool, Aqua Toruń, has officially unveiled its newly reconstructed and expanded facilities. The project, which began with planning in 2016, aimed to create a modern recreational hub while respecting the existing urban landscape.
Architecture firm MD Polska spearheaded the design, focusing on integrating the new structure seamlessly into the environment. The decision to substitute the original 1980s building structure was made after a thorough technical assessment and cost analysis of renovation versus replacement.
A Blend of Recreation and Nature
The revitalized Aqua Toruń prioritizes the preservation of the city center’s green spaces and flora. The new building’s design thoughtfully incorporates the surrounding landscape, enhancing its appeal as a leisure destination.
Planners drew inspiration from a stream that once flowed through the area in the 1970s.This past element guided the site’s division into distinct zones, now featuring amenities for sporting activities like skate systems and outdoor gyms, alongside recreational areas with walking paths and extensive green spaces.
