Apple is set to introduce a meaningful visual overhaul with its upcoming operating system updates. The minimalist, flat aesthetic that defined iOS 7 and subsequent iterations will be replaced by a design language Apple is calling “Liquid Glass.” This new style will incorporate light effects, shadows, gradients, and prominent use of virtual glass. the updated design is slated for release this fall across iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and watchOS. Industry observers anticipate that this design shift will also influence the physical appearance of Apple’s hardware.

Historically, major stylistic changes in Apple’s software have been accompanied by a rebranding of its iconic logo. While the fundamental shape of the Apple logo is unlikely to change due to its established recognition, its visual presentation is expected to adapt to the new “Liquid Glass” aesthetic. This could involve the incorporation of refractive and reflective qualities, possibly with subtle colour variations, similar to those observed on the invitation for the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025.
