ICEHL 2025/26: New Player Signings in Vienna, Salzburg & Budapest

Gazzola Dominates ICEHL Defensemen, Böhm Joins Salzburg, Horváth Signs with FTC-Telekom Budapest

ICEHL – November 15, 2023 – The ICE Hockey League (ICEHL) is abuzz with player movement and standout performances. Italian-Canadian defenseman Lorenzo Gazzola continues to make his mark, Mathias Böhm has made a significant switch within Austria, and Milan horváth has found a new home in Hungary.

Gazzola, a defenseman known for his offensive prowess, has cemented his reputation as a top-tier player in the ICEHL. During the 2021-22 season, he achieved his personal best in points with 64 points (14 goals, 50 assists). That same season, he also gained valuable experiance with two games in the AHL for the Grand Rapids Griffins.Returning to Italy in 2022, Gazzola signed with Asiago in the Ice Hockey League. In his inaugural season, he instantly established himself as the league’s highest-scoring defenseman, amassing 45 points (9 goals, 36 assists) in the regular season. The following year,after acquiring Italian citizenship,he earned his debut with the Italian national team. In the 2023-24 season, Gazzola has continued his extraordinary scoring pace, recording 38 points (7 goals, 31 assists) in just 30 games. During these 30 games, Asiago scored 85 goals, with Gazzola directly contributing to 44.7% of them, averaging an outstanding 1.27 points per game, the highest in the entire league. Over his three seasons with Asiago, he has accumulated 108 points (22 goals, 86 assists) in the regular season, more than any other defenseman during that period.

Böhm Moves from Vienna to Salzburg

Mathias Böhm,a product of the Vienna Capitals‘ youth system,is set to join EC Red Bull Salzburg. The 22-year-old forward, standing at 1.91 meters, made his debut with the Capitals’ first team in the 2021-22 season at the young age of 18.He continued to develop his game in both the AlpsHL and the Austrian U20 championship. In the last two seasons, Böhm has been a regular fixture in the ICEHL, playing 83 games and registering 7 goals and 10 assists.He has also received call-ups to the Austrian national team. His addition is expected to bolster the offensive depth of the Red Bulls.

Milan Horváth Signs with FTC-Telekom Budapest

The FTC-Telekom Budapest has announced the signing of defenseman Milan Horváth. the 24-year-old has played 128 games in the ICEHL for Fehérvár AV19 between 2020 and 2023, recording 22 points. Last season, Horváth began his campaign in Finland with Jokipojat, before returning to Hungary to play for the Budapest Hockey Academy HC after 15 appearances.
