Southeast Asia’s venture investors are excited about AI—but less excited about the region

Warburg Pincus has agreed to acquire FlavorSum, a natural flavor solutions provider for the food and beverage industry, from The Riverside Company. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.FlavorSum is based in kalamazoo, Michigan.

In a separate progress,NiCe is set to acquire cognigy,a developer of AI agents for customer service,in a deal that values the Dallas-based company at approximately $955 million.

In the realm of initial public offerings, Figma, a San Francisco-based design software company, is planning to raise up to $1.15 billion. The offering will consist of 36.9 million shares wiht a price range of $30 to $32 per share. For the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025, Figma reported sales of $821 million. The company’s investors include Index ventures, Greylock Partners, KPCB Holdings, Sequoia Capital, and the Wu-Wallace Family Trust.

Additionally,Firefly Aerospace,a space and defense technology firm headquartered in Cedar Park,Texas,has announced its intention to raise $631.8 million through an offering of 16.2 million shares on the Nasdaq. The proposed share price is set between $35 and $39. For the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025, Firefly Aerospace generated $108 million in revenue. The company is backed by AE Industrial Partners, Astera Institute, and Thomas Markusic.
