The series stars Rhea Seehorn, reuniting with Gilligan after her standout performance as Kim Wexler in “Better Call Saul.”

The teaser offers a glimpse into the show’s surreal and thought-provoking tone. One striking image features a woman licking donuts from a box with a “Serve yourself!” sign, a gesture that perfectly encapsulates the series’ darkly comedic and unsettling atmosphere. The promotional imagery continues this theme, with a plate bearing a smiling face crafted from an unidentifiable substance, accompanied by the tagline, “Happiness is contagious.”

“Pluribus”: A Mission to Save the World from Happiness?

“pluribus” is described as a genre-bending series that centers on “the unhappiest person on Earth” who must “save the world from happiness.” This unusual premise, bordering on the absurd, aligns with Gilligan’s signature ironic style. While fans might expect a return to the gritty crime dramas of his previous work, “Pluribus” ventures into new territory, blending social satire with “mild science fiction,” as Gilligan himself described it.

“I woudl call it mild science fiction,” Gilligan stated in an interview with Tvline.”There are no crimes, nor methamphetamine. It will be something fun and different. The world changes very sharply in the first episode, and the consequences of that change will accompany us for many episodes.”

The Cast of “Pluribus”

Rhea Seehorn leads the cast as the protagonist, though details about her character remain under wraps. Joining her are Karolina Wydra (“Sneaky Pete,” “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”) and Carlos-Manuel Vesga (“The Seizure of Flight 601”). The series also features special appearances by Miriam Shor (“American Fiction”) and Samba Schutte (“Our Flag Means Death”).produced by Sony Pictures Television, “Pluribus” sees Vince Gilligan serving as showrunner and executive producer, alongside Gordon Smith, Alison Tatlock, Diane Mercer, Allyce Ozarski, and Jeff Frost. Jenn Carroll and Trina Siopy are executive co-producers. In a testament to the project’s potential, Apple TV+ has already renewed “Pluribus” for a second season prior to its debut.
