Spanish Synchronized Swimming Makes History: Lluis and Tió clinch world Cup Gold in Singapore

In a landmark achievement for Spanish synchronized swimming, Lilou Lluis and Iris Tió have secured a historic gold medal at the World Cup in Singapore. The dynamic duo triumphed in the female free duet final, delivering a flawless routine that earned them a remarkable 282.6087 points. This victory marks the first time a Spanish pair has claimed a world title in this discipline.

Prior too this momentous win, spain’s national team had accumulated two silver and one bronze medal in the free duet category.The last time a Spanish duo stood on the world podium for this event was 14 years ago, underscoring the significance of Lluis and Tió’s performance.

The Spanish pair outscored their closest competitors, Italy’s Enrica Piccoli and Lucrezia Ruggiero, by a margin of 3.8850 points, with the Italian duo securing the silver medal with a score of 278.7137. Rounding out the podium were Russia’s Mayya Doroshko and Tatiana Gayay, who earned the bronze with a final mark of 277.1117 points.

This gold medal further solidifies the extraordinary performance of Spain’s artistic swimming contingent in Singapore, where they have amassed a total of seven medals: two gold, two silver, and three bronze.

A significant contributor to this medal haul is the outstanding talent of Iris Tió. At just 22 years old, Tió has already collected five World Cup medals, including the two gold medals she has earned in the solo free and now the free duet events.
