Alexander Isak will not be participating in Newcastle United’s pre-season tour of Asia. the club has confirmed that the striker is absent from the trips to Singapore and South Korea due to a minor thigh issue.
This latest absence marks another period where Isak has been unavailable for on-pitch action. He previously missed Newcastle’s 4-0 pre-season amiable defeat against Celtic last weekend.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe had commented that isak’s absence from the Celtic match was influenced by ongoing transfer speculation surrounding the player.
Isak has been identified as a transfer target for Liverpool this summer. The premier League champions reportedly made an enquiry about the availability of the Sweden international.
However, Liverpool have since focused their attention on signing Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike, a player who was also a target for Newcastle United.
