An Air India plane skidded off the runway onto an unpaved area at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) on July 21, 2025, at approximately 09:27 hours. The pilots quickly guided the aircraft back to the paved surface.
The airport confirmed the runway excursion involving an incoming aircraft from Kochi. Minor damage has been reported to the primary runway, designated 09/27. In response, the secondary runway, 14/32, has been activated to maintain airport operations. CSMIA prioritizes safety above all else.
