despite boasting a powerful graphical section that could initially attract players not typically drawn to stealth games, Eriksholm has struggled to gain traction. According to Peter Bathge of Gamestar, the game suffered from a lack of adequate promotion, failing to introduce the stealth genre to a wider audience. “Its launch has been silent; there has been no advertising campaign or collaborations with the main streamers,” Bathge noted, highlighting the difficulty for smaller titles without extensive marketing to capture attention.
A potential avenue for increasing its player base would have been inclusion on Game Pass, which could have introduced Eriksholm to a substantially larger audience without requiring an upfront purchase. This is particularly relevant given the game’s modest price point, but also its relatively short playtime of approximately 12 hours and limited replayability, factors that might deter some potential buyers.
It remains to be seen how Eriksholm performs on consoles and whether word-of-mouth can help it build a sufficient player base for its creators to recoup their investment.
