Brentford Pursues Mbeumo Successor Amid Manchester United Talks

Omari Hutchinson Emerges as Potential Replacement

Brentford appears resigned to the departure of forward Bryan Mbeumo this summer, taking steps to secure a replacement. Despite ongoing negotiations with Manchester United, Mbeumo remains with the club and participated in pre-season training. However, the Manchester United hierarchy anticipates a deal will eventually be struck.

Club Activates Release Clause for Chelsea Prospect

The Bees have reportedly submitted an opening bid for Omari Hutchinson, identifying him as a “possible replacement” for Mbeumo. According to Fabrizio Romano, Brentford has triggered Hutchinson’s £35 million release clause. The move follows the Chelsea academy graduate’s relegation with Ipswich Town. Hutchinson’s potential arrival could facilitate Mbeumo’s exit from West London.

Tom Collomosse of the MailSport reports that the club has acted to secure Hutchinson from Ipswich Town, where he was a graduate of Chelsea’s setup.

Brentford’s Valuation Reflects Mbeumo’s Impact

The club’s firm stance on Mbeumo’s valuation stems from his stellar performance last season. The 25-year-old Cameroonian international achieved a career-best 20 Premier League goals and provided eight assists. Furthermore, Mbeumo was available for every league fixture throughout the 38-game campaign, highlighting his reliability for manager Thomas Frank. In the 2023-24 Premier League season, forwards converted 11.5% of their shots on average, underscoring the efficiency Mbeumo displayed with his 20 goals.

Bryan Mbeumo seamlessly replaced ex-teammate Ivan Toney in 24/25.

Manchester United has previously submitted two offers for Mbeumo, reportedly failing with initial bids of £55 million and a subsequent £62 million package including add-ons. Brentford’s pursuit of Hutchinson suggests their readiness to sanction Mbeumo’s transfer should a satisfactory agreement be reached.
