NASA Picks Firms for Architect-Engineer Services Contract

NASA Taps Seven Firms for $75 Million Engineering Pact

Infrastructure Support for Key West Coast Facilities

NASA is bolstering its infrastructure capabilities by awarding a significant contract to seven architectural and engineering firms. The aim is to support critical upgrades and maintenance across multiple agency sites, primarily on the West Coast.

Strategic Partnerships for Facility Enhancements

The Western Regional Architect-Engineer Services contract, valued at up to $75 million, will span five years with a potential six-month extension. This indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity agreement ensures NASA has agile support for its diverse facility needs.

The selected companies include DYNOTEC-KZF JV LLC of Columbus, Ohio; Merrick-IMEG JV LLP of Greenwood Village, Colorado; G Squared Design of Lakewood, Colorado; Kal Architects Inc. of Irvine, California; AECOM Technical Services Inc. of Los Angeles; Stell SIA Sala O’Brien LLC DBA S3, LLC (S3) of Mountlake Terrace, Washington; and Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. of Arlington, Virginia.

Supporting California’s Space Hubs

These firms will provide essential architectural and engineering services for projects at NASA’s Ames Research Center in Silicon Valley and the Armstrong Flight Research Center in Edwards, California. The scope covers general construction, alterations, and new building projects.

Additionally, the contract allows for backup support to other NASA centers and federal tenants. This includes crucial facilities like the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California, the Goldstone Deep Space Communications Complex, and NASA’s launch alliance at Vandenberg Space Force Base.

This investment aligns with NASA’s ongoing need to modernize its facilities. For example, the U.S. government’s overall infrastructure spending is projected to reach $1.7 trillion by 2025 to address critical repair and upgrade needs across federal agencies (GAO 2022).
