Phoenix, AZ – A confrontation in a Phoenix backyard ended tragically Sunday morning when a homeowner shot adn killed a man attempting too break into the residence. the incident occurred near Seventh and Glendale avenues, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

the deceased has been identified as 25-year-old Kwame Hightower. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homeowner Reports Backyard intruder

The sequence of events began around 7:43 a.m. when the homeowner contacted 911 to report an individual in his backyard actively trying to gain entry into the house. During the ongoing emergency call, the homeowner discharged his firearm, striking Hightower.

Detectives interviewed the homeowner, who was later released from police custody.
