According to the police information, a security patrol came across a collision between the Vagundis truck and another vehicle, and upon approaching they discovered the former player dead after he was shot.
The police documented an eyewitness that the shooter was inside the car with Wagundis, 46, specifically on the passenger’s seat and fled after the shooting using his private car.
The police suspect that the crime was emotional, as a woman had reported that her ex -husband kidnapped Wagundis shortly before the crime, using the same car in which he was found.
Civil police continue to investigate the case in order to clarify the crime motivation and identify those responsible for it, while the Mato Grosso Volleyball Federation expressed its solidarity with Vagundis friends and his family through social media.
It is reported that Vagundis was crowned with the 1995 World Cup Volleyball team in the 1995 World Cup in Porto Rico, and a year later he won the South American Cup title for the same age group.
During his professional career, Wagundis – who exceeded two meters – played for several Brazilian clubs, and he also has external professional experiences in Spain, Argentina and Japan before concluding his career with the Brazilian Kwaba Foley Club team.
