Tens of thousands of loyal fans, group t -shirts and other attributes flocked to the stadium on Thursday, according to a press release. The audience was festive and vigorous – from the first chords to the last song.
The event was entrusted to another cult American group, Public Enemy, which entered the stage just before 7 pm. Their energy perfectly heated the atmosphere before the main stars of the evening appeared on the stage.
As soon as 8 pm, the Guns N ‘Roses kernel AXL Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan, who held their promise, gave Kaunas a nearly 3.5 -hour energy concert that surpassed many expectations. For the opening, the band chose its cult hit Welcome to the Jungle, and later classic pieces such as Sweet Child O ‘Mine, November Rain, Paradise City, Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door and others.
Despite the rain, no enthusiasm of the rain, neither the musicians nor the audience’s enthusiasm diminished – the scene flared with the lights and the stadium sounded along with each song. To Kaunas, the whole Lithuania and the guests of the country, the band donated not only a concert but also a real rock music performance, reviving nostalgic memories. The Guns N ‘Roses had never visited Lithuania at once, and this show in Kaunas was the only group show in all Baltic countries.
A group whose name has become a rock synonym
In 1985, the Guns N ‘Roses, which gathered in Los Angeles, not only shocked the world music scene, but also created a new rock era. Their debut album “APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION” (1987) is still considered one of the most influential rock albums of all time. He is also given a special status: in music history, the album is not only named as the best-selling US debut album, but also boasts 11th in all-time sales in US history. The first single, Welcome to the Jungle, opened the band’s path to glory, while Sweet Child O ‘Mine became their first hit to reach the first place on the Billboard Hot 100.
For nearly four decades, Guns N ‘Roses has won dozens of prestigious awards, including MTV Music Awards, American Music Awards and were recorded in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The band has sold more than 100 million album units worldwide to establish its name among the most popular music bands of all time.
