Michael Madsen, ‘Reservoir Dogs’ Star, Dies at 67

Michael Madsen, the veteran American actor renowned for his roles in Quentin Tarantino’s films, including “Kill Bill” and “Reservoir Dogs,” has died at the age of 67. He was found in his Malibu, California home this morning.

Cause of Death

According to Madsen’s manager, the actor’s apparent cause of death was cardiac arrest. The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Office confirmed that medical personnel pronounced him dead at his home. Authorities do not suspect foul play was involved.

Early Career and Breakthrough Roles

Born in Chicago, Madsen honed his craft through studies and performances at the Steppenwolf Theater. He launched his screen career in 1982 with a role in “Against The Hope,” playing an alcoholic.

In 1993, Madsen received the Florida Filmid Award for his performances in both Ridley Scott’s “Thelma and Louis” and Quentin Tarantino’s “Reservoir Dogs.”

Notable Performances

Madsen’s extensive filmography includes a range of memorable characters, such as Mr. Blonde in “Reservoir Dogs”, Virgil Earp in “Wyatt Earp”, and Budd in the “Kill Bill” movies. He also played the CIA agent Falco in the James Bond film “Die Another Day”. The Motion Picture Association reported that in 2023, action films comprised 26% of total US box office revenue, demonstrating the genre’s continued popularity MPA 2023.
