“Uncle Skrue” arrested and charged with threats – the district court will release him

Oslo Court Denies Custody for “Uncle Skrue,” Police Appeal

A well-known figure in Oslo’s underworld, Imran Saber, known as “Uncle Skrue,” faces legal challenges following an arrest. The Oslo District Court’s decision to deny custody, however, has opened up a new phase in the case. The police are fighting to keep Saber detained.

Legal Proceedings Begin

On Tuesday, the Oslo District Court heard the case against Imran Saber. The 47-year-old is accused of making threats. Several family members are considered the offended parties in the case. Police requested four weeks of custody for Saber, but the court disagreed.

The court found that Saber should be subject to daily police check-ins instead of being held. While acknowledging a potential risk of repeated offenses if released, the court opted for a notification duty.

“It is a good and correct decision,”

Ketil Magnus Berg, Saber‘s lawyer

The police have appealed this decision, which means Saber cannot be released until the Borgarting Court of Appeal reviews the case. The police have been unsuccessful in their bid to keep Saber in custody.

The Charges and Response

Saber‘s arrest occurred on Sunday. His defender, Ketil Magnus Berg, stated that his client found his time in a cell to be a “tough experience.” Berg has declined to discuss the specifics of the relationship between Saber and those he is accused of threatening.

“There are some underlying disputes here. This is about what has happened in the extension of it, and whether something has gone too far,” stated Berg.

Saber has acknowledged two instances of “troublesome behavior.” Berg stated that Saber understands his actions crossed the line, specifically referencing posters he created mentioning a person he has been in conflict with. According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, approximately 20% of domestic violence cases involve the use of threats or intimidation (Source 2023).

Known for Prior Infractions

Saber has a long history in Oslo’s criminal circles. He is known as the “Finance Minister” for David Toska, the leader of the Nokas robbery. In 2008, he was convicted of receiving money from the Nokas robbery, funds that Toska allegedly invested in drugs. He was also convicted for sending harassing messages to police officers in 2020.

Saber has been involved in past conflicts. He was once targeted in a planned killing by Metkel Betew and Lars Harnes, leaders of the Bandidos motorcycle club, but was ultimately acquitted.
