Arsenal Secures Kepa Arrizabalaga as Goalkeeper

A Strategic Addition for Arsenal

Kepa Arrizabalaga, a Spanish international goalkeeper, has joined Arsenal. The experienced 30-year-old brings a wealth of experience, having won significant honors at club and international levels. He arrives to bolster the goalkeeping unit, following loan spells with Real Madrid and Bournemouth.

Kepa, a veteran of 140 Premier League appearances, began his career with Athletic Bilbao, progressing through their academy. He later played for Ponferradina and Real Valladolid. He made his senior debut for Spain in 2017 and has 13 senior appearances.

“I’m really, really happy to be here, really excited and looking forward to what is coming.”

According to the Premier League, goalkeepers are crucial to defensive solidity, with a strong keeper often saving up to 10 goals per season (Premier League 2024).

Journey to Arsenal

In 2018, Kepa became the world’s most expensive goalkeeper when he joined Chelsea. During his time there, he was part of squads that won the Champions League, Europa League, UEFA Super Cup, and Club World Cup. He then spent the 2023/24 season on loan with Real Madrid.

Andrea Berta, the Sporting Director, shared, “We are really excited to have Kepa join our Arsenal family.” Mikel Arteta added: “We are really happy to have Kepa joining us. He brings a wealth of experience, which his teammates will benefit from, and he has a real hunger to win.”
