Hyatt Bulks Up, Aims to Revive NFL Career
Jalin Hyatt is entering a pivotal phase in his NFL journey. After a disappointing second season, the Giants’ wide receiver is drastically altering his physique, aiming to become a more impactful player in his third year.
Dramatic Physical Transformation
In an effort to improve performance, Jalin Hyatt has added considerable muscle mass this offseason. The receiver has gained over twenty pounds since last season, intending to handle the physicality of the league more effectively. This significant change reflects his dedication to enhancing his game.
“I played at like 170, 171 last year, I’m about 194, 195 now,” Hyatt shared. “I’m telling you, that’s what darkness does to you. It changes you.”

Optimism and Strategy
Hyatt believes the increased weight will not hinder his speed, which played a role in his third-round selection in 2023. He is focused on adjusting to his new weight, emphasizing that he is learning to play stronger through contact.
“Speed will stay there, but for me it’s just learning to run at this weight, learning to play faster, play bigger, play stronger through contact,” Hyatt said.

In 2023, Hyatt caught 23 passes for 373 yards. A recent study showed that players who gain significant weight during the offseason often see increased physicality, but sometimes at the expense of their overall speed. (Source 2024)
Shifting Roles and Team Competition
Hyatt also intends to potentially shift his position in 2025, moving from outside to the slot. His production fell significantly last season, catching only eight passes for 62 yards in 16 appearances. This shift might bring him more opportunities.
The Giants’ receiving corps includes Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton, and WanDale Robinson. Hyatt will seek to rise above this competition. His objective is to secure his spot on the roster and potentially shape his future in New York. Otherwise, he may need to find opportunities elsewhere.
