Bigscreen Beyond 2 Headsets Begin Shipping After Delays
After a production hold-up, the Bigscreen Beyond 2 virtual reality headsets are finally shipping. This innovative product promises a slim, lightweight design for PC VR, generating excitement among tech enthusiasts eager for a premium experience.
Production and Availability
The company announced the initial shipments of the Bigscreen Beyond 2, a next-generation, compact PC VR headset. The business, in a recent blog post, confirmed that Beyond 2 units have started shipping to customers around the world. The fulfillment process, however, will persist through August and beyond due to a backlog of pre-orders.
Orders placed now are slated to ship between August and September. The goal is to eliminate the backlog by the end of September. The company aims to shift to near-immediate fulfillment. Both versions of the headset are available, including the Beyond 2 and the eye-tracking-equipped Beyond 2e. The Beyond 2 costs $1,019, and the Beyond 2e is priced at $1,219. The headsets are available for direct purchase from Bigscreen.
Sales and Manufacturing Expansion
The Beyond 2 proved popular with pre-order customers. Sales in the first 24 hours outpaced the original Beyond by “more than the first four months.” The company also stated that more units were sold in the first eleven days than all Beyond 1 units in its first year. This has prompted Bigscreen to grow manufacturing at its Los Angeles factory and hire new technicians and customer support staff. Additionally, the company has deployed engineers to its overseas suppliers to supervise production.
Additional Product Details
Orders for Custom-Fit Cushions placed through May 7th will ship by mid-August. Halo Mount orders will start shipping in late September or October due to manufacturing delays. Customers who ordered a Beyond 1 and haven’t received one yet will automatically get upgraded to the Beyond 2. Shipments are expected to be completed by July 25th, Bigscreen says.
Bigscreen assured customers back in April that its PC VR headset would maintain its price despite US government tariffs on many Chinese-made goods.
