Finding Meaning
Hala Shiha recounted moments of spiritual disconnection, describing feelings of emptiness despite her accomplishments. She thought her sadness was temporary, until she embraced a return to faith. Reading sacred texts became a source of healing and comfort for her, according to her account. She felt as if the words were meant for her.
“Every time I moved away from God, I felt that emptiness, and that wandering, I felt pain that I do not know its cause, despite everything I have, and I thought that it was just a passing sadness, until I returned to him, to God, and I opened his book, so I felt that the verses were addressed to me, touched my heart, and it was cooked on my wounds, ﴿ And we descend from the Qur’an, what is the healing and mercy of the believers ﴾ [الإسراء: 82]”.
