The KFC Big Bash League is poised for a significant international boost, led by Pakistani speedster Shaheen Afridi, as nominations for BBL|15’s draft reveal a wealth of global talent eager to compete Down Under. A favorable gap in Pakistan’s international schedule has opened the door for its leading players.

Afridi Targeted by Top Clubs

Shaheen Afridi, renowned as one of the world’s premier new-ball bowlers, will be available for the entire BBL|15 season and finals series. The Brisbane Heat, holding the coveted No.1 draft pick, are expected to strongly consider him, though they already have left-arm quick Spencer Johnson and have secured Colin Munro. This could see the Strikers, at pick two, swoop in for the Pakistani star, having already expressed interest in bolstering their pace attack.

Pakistani Powerhouse

Afridi joins fellow countrymen Muhammad Rizwan, a dynamic wicketkeeper-batsman, and familiar BBL faces Haris Rauf and Shadab Khan in the top tier of draft nominees. Pakistan’s relatively clear Future Tours Programme from November to February provides the ideal window for these players to participate in the Big Bash, gaining valuable T20 experience ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
