A New Era for Cancer Research in Lyon
The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), known as CIRC, has entered a new chapter with its relocation to a state-of-the-art facility in Lyon’s Dubiodistric Lyon-Gerland. The move, completed at the end of 2022, culminated in an inauguration ceremony on May 12, 2023, marking a significant milestone for the organization.

The City of Lyon has honored the late Véronique Trillet-Lenoir, a prominent cancerologist and former chairman of the directory of the Cancerople Lyon Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (2013-2020), by naming an alley near the CIRC center after her. The official naming ceremony took place on Wednesday, May 7, recognizing her significant contributions to cancer research and treatment.

CIRC’s commitment to international cooperation was further solidified with the addition of Portugal as its 30th member. This expansion underscores the organization’s role in coordinating global efforts to combat cancer.
