New Vaccination Campaign by Xeral Directorate of Public Health: Herpes Zoster and Pneumococcus Vaccines for At-Risk Groups

The Xeral Directorate of Public Health begins next Monday, June 12, a new campaign to inform the population susceptible to vaccinating against the Herpes zoster and the pneumococcus.

The entity will send messages SMS to risk groups that could benefit from the vaccine, to notify them of the possibility of requesting an appointment for the administration of these vaccines, as well as all the information available on their indications.

Thus, from next Monday, health centers will begin with the administration of the new 20-valent conjugate pneumococcal vaccine (VNC20) Apexxnarsystematically in the people of 65 yearsin addition to vaccination in the people with risk conditions (18 and over).

In addition, people who request it may also receive the herpes zoster vaccine (Shingrix) as systematic vaccination, among the general population that complies in 2023, 65 years and 80 years (born in 1958 and 1943).

Likewise, they will also be able to request their appointment through the usual channels at their health center and receive the corresponding vaccines.
